Terms and Conditions
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the SpendWise mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
These Terms apply to all users of the App, including users of the free tier and SpendWise Pro subscribers.
2. Description of the App
SpendWise is a personal finance management application developed by Emstell Apps. The App allows users to:
• Log and categorise personal expenses
• Set and monitor monthly budgets
• Track loans given to and taken from other individuals
• Split shared expenses among multiple people
• View spending insights and charts
• Export financial data (Pro feature)
The App operates entirely on the user's device. No account registration is required, and all data is stored locally using SQLite on the device unless the user explicitly exports it.
3. Free Tier and SpendWise Pro
3.1 Free Tier
The free version of SpendWise includes:
• Up to 30 expense entries per calendar month
• Basic spending charts and insights
• Budget setting and monitoring
• Display of advertisement content
3.2 SpendWise Pro
SpendWise Pro is a one-time, non-subscription in-app purchase that unlocks the following features permanently:
• Unlimited expense logging
• Removal of all advertisements
• Loans Given and Loans Taken tracking
• Shared expense splitting (up to 4 participants)
• CSV and PDF data export
• Budget alerts at 50%, 80%, and 100% thresholds
• Custom expense categories
• Home screen widget
• Recurring expenses
• Multi-currency support
3.3 Purchase and Pricing
SpendWise Pro is available for a one-time fee of $3.99 USD (or equivalent local currency as determined by your app store). Payment is processed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store and is subject to their respective terms.
This is a one-time purchase. There is no subscription, no auto-renewal, and no hidden fees.
3.4 Restoring Purchases
If you reinstall the App or switch devices, you may restore your Pro purchase at no additional charge using the "Restore Purchase" option within the App. Restoration is subject to the policies of the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
4. Data Storage and Privacy
All data entered into SpendWise — including expenses, loan records, shared expense details, and personal settings — is stored locally on your device only. Emstell Apps does not collect, transmit, or have access to your personal financial data.
We do not require you to create an account or provide any personal information to use the App.

5. Acceptable Use
You agree to use SpendWise only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms. You must not:
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App
• Use the App for any fraudulent, misleading, or illegal activity
• Attempt to circumvent any feature restriction, Pro gate, or licence enforcement mechanism
• Distribute, resell, or sublicense the App or any part of it
6. Advertisements
The free tier of SpendWise displays advertisements served through Google Mobile Ads. By using the free tier, you consent to the display of such advertisements.
Advertisements are not shown during high-intent interactions including, but not limited to, the Loan entry form, Shared Expense form, and the Pro upgrade screen.
SpendWise Pro users will not see any advertisements.
7. Multi-Language Support
SpendWise is available in English, Russian (Русский), Chinese Simplified (中文), Spanish (Español), and Arabic (العربية). Switching the language to Arabic activates a right-to-left layout. Changing between RTL and LTR languages requires an app restart.
Emstell Apps makes reasonable efforts to ensure translation accuracy but does not warrant that all translations are error-free. The English version of these Terms shall govern in the event of any conflict.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
SpendWise is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
Emstell Apps does not warrant that:
• The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from viruses or other harmful components
• The financial summaries, calculations, or insights provided by the App are accurate or suitable for any financial, tax, or legal purpose
• The App will be available on any particular device, operating system version, or platform
SpendWise is a personal budgeting tool only. It is not a financial adviser, accountant, or banking application. Do not rely solely on information from the App for any financial decision.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Emstell Apps and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of SpendWise, even if Emstell Apps has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
In no event shall Emstell Apps's total liability to you exceed the amount you paid for SpendWise Pro ($3.99 USD or local equivalent), or $1.00 USD if you have not made any purchase.
10. Intellectual Property
All content, design, code, trademarks, logos, and other intellectual property in SpendWise are owned by or licensed to Emstell Apps. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use the Emstell Apps or SpendWise name, logo, or branding.
The SpendWise logo and visual identity are proprietary to Emstell Apps.
11. Third-Party Services
SpendWise integrates or relies upon the following third-party services:
• Apple App Store / Google Play Store — for app distribution and in-app purchases
• Google Mobile Ads — for advertisement delivery in the free tier
• RevenueCat or Expo In-App Purchases — for purchase verification
Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. Emstell Apps is not responsible for the practices of any third-party service.
12. Changes to the App and These Terms
Emstell Apps reserves the right to modify, update, or discontinue SpendWise (or any part of it) at any time without notice. We also reserve the right to update these Terms. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
We will update the "Effective Date" at the top of these Terms whenever a material change is made.
13. Termination
These Terms remain in effect until terminated. Your right to use SpendWise terminates automatically if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, you must delete the App from all your devices.
Sections 8, 9, and 10 of these Terms shall survive termination.
14. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the relevant jurisdiction.
